Clean Energy Applications is building an electric vehicle!
R2i2 is proud to be the first school in South Carolina to incorporate a Switch EV build into our Next Energy Engineering curriculum. After completing high voltage safety training and learning wiring terminations and protocol with a relay lab, student groups work on modules, with the goal of completing the car in spring of 2023. Once the EV is complete, students will continue to use the car for charge/discharge studies with our solar EV charger, and improve the EV's performance.
Not only are electric vehicles becoming an increasingly vital industry in South Carolina, but the EV build also allows second level Next Energy students to apply circuitry and electromagnetism principles learned from the first course. One of the great features of the Switch Vehicle is its Battery Management System, which allows Next Energy students to monitor and adjust different battery cells as needed.
